Estimated to be between 3-4 months old,Ruttroe came to us from a high-kill shelter in Cherokee County,SC. Due to the high prevalence of parvo virus,Ruttroe spent 12 days in quarantine where he received all his vaccinations and was medically cleared. He made his 3.5 hour trek up to Durham Friday night and immediately made friends with his new foster roommates (feline, canine and human).
Ruttroe made his RHR debut at TSC on Saturday (his first full day in foster care), and made friends with everyone he met. Ruttroe proved himself to not only be friendly and sweet, but also incredibly smart. He quickly learned to sit for treats and was even working on 'paw' (aka shake). Although we don't believe that he ever lived in a home setting, he seems fine with being crated.
Medically, the vets found demodex mites on Ruttroe, so he does have some hair lose. Demodex is non-contagious and treated by oral Ivermectin medication. He will be adoptable during treatment assuming adopter guarantees keeping him on the medication (RHR will provide)
Ruttroe is a truly sweet, smart young rottie boy who has great potential in his future. Is it with you?? 10/20/xxxx - Ruttroe has now been on his Ivermectin for one week. He has had no adverse reactions or side effects. His hair is already noticeably better in many places and he is no longer scratching. YEAH! He's learned that snuggling is awesome, and seeks out attention whenever he's not off playing with his foster brothers. He's still anxiously waiting for his permanent home to come along. All Rottweiler Hearts Rescue dogs are kept in foster homes where they learn basic house manners and training. Every dog is spayed/neutered, UTD on shots, and microchipped.
