I don't think it takes much to understand why we call this girl our little chunky monkey! Lucy Lue was found as a stray in Duplin County - she has such a personality that she rode all the way back to the animal shelter in the front seat of the animal control truck! Needless to say, she quickly stole the hearts of the shelter staff and volunteers. RHR was heading out to Onlsow County to pull Willow, and since Duplin County was on the way home, we had to go meet this "little" (big) girl. Well, upon meeting this wiggly butt and seeing what a gentle soul she was, we decided we would find a place for her. Somewhere along the line before coming into the safety of the shelter, Lucy ran into some trouble and got a gash on her neck (potenentially from an imbedded collar or something being wrapped around her neck to tightly). The wound is healing up nicely, but for now she can only wear an easy-walk harness - it may take some time before she can wear a collar agian. Lucy is a big girl that sometimes doesn't appreciate other dogs that are bigger than her, but she gets along just fine with most dogs and ADORES human affection. Think she is too hefty to fit on your lap? Naw - she will find a way! Our vet has given us strict orders to put her on a diet and exercise regime to make sure this sweetie has a long and healthy life. Now she just needs to find somebody to spend that life with! All Rottweiler Hearts Rescue dogs are kept in foster homes where they learn basic house manners and training. Every dog is spayed/neutered, UTD on shots, and microchipped.
